Now here is the backdrop to this so called peaceful vandalism of Youth Congressi, in line with Yuvraj’s suggestions. An eatery (Aditi pure Veg) in Mumbai, owned by a certain Srinivas Shetty has this unique way of letting all know the transgressions of this UPA government. In the bill, to educate the ignorant eaters about the kind of governance that we are forced in to in last 10 years, it had this declaimer entrenched at the bottom of the bill – “As per UPA government, eating money (2G, Coal, CWG scam) is a necessity and eating food in an AC restaurant is a luxury”. Does anyone find anything defamatory in any manner here? Aren’t the scams listed by this hotelier has only Congress or its allay members in the perpetrator list? And looking at the amount of money that is siphoned in each of these swindles, it is only judicious to term them as an act of eating money or may be guzzling money rather. Coming back to the second point, hasn’t the government levied extra taxes on A/C brasseries as they find eating in an A/C restaurant is anything but a luxury; hence the diners must cough extra to fill the coffers of the state which is to be looted by smart asses of Congress at appropriate opportunities. Where the hell they found any untruth in the declaimer to be termed as defamation is beyond me.
But as expected, the Congress stooges seem to have their own inimitable marque of dictionary where the connotation of ‘defamation’ and ‘peaceful’ has a whole new meaning. Lead by a lout called Ganesh Kumar Yadav (Maharashtra Youth Congress chief) a goon’s congregation of more than 20 bragged in to the restaurant and shut it down. ‘We can’t tolerate such defamation of our party’ – Mr. Yadav said to have told while surrounded by a handful of jurnos. I wish Mr. Yadav and the party to which he belongs hasn’t endured heavies and charlatans in their ranks to start with, they may not have to tolerate the bitter truth now. But admittance of fault is the last thing one expects from Congress rogues, more so when it deals with one of their mega scams. They only allowed the eatery to open once the owner apologized for speaking the truth and promised not to spread the misdeeds of UPA government any further. Brilliant chronicles, I must say. We will loot the nation till the last penny and at the same time we won’t allow anyone to talk about our loot at all.
The misappropriation of power (nothing new in case of Congress though) that trickled on to the streets, did brought about a lot of leaden heads into the debate. From moral policing to conspiracy mongers, we had this rainbow of comedians running around with their opinion. Leading the cluster could be none other than the great Rajdeep Sardesai himself. How he feels so dejected for not having the same public outrage when CNN-IBN office was ransacked by Shiv Sainiks in 2009. While he was all but inconsolable with this kind of public apathy, I was expecting some part of his brain still functioning properly to articulate reasons behind such ennui. People react when they feel there is an absolute misuse of power to subdue the lesser ones. Knowing CNN-IBN and his own track records, gross mischief was expected of them for such violent reaction from Siv Sena. Don’t get me wrong since I am not condoning vehemence but just answering the misplaced dismay of Rajdeep Sardesai. His tweet even becomes funnier since he is the person who stops from popping the 1984 Sikh riots vis-à-vis Gujarat riot discussions. What he advocates in for his proposition – we shouldn’t relate one riot to other as both are of unique types. Then why compare yesterday’s gobbledygook of Youth Congress with the 2009 defacement of Siv Sena? This is perhaps what we call ‘the convenience of self-serving articulation’.
Asish Nandy episode is one thing that perhaps our media harped around as many times they have joggled with the Gujarat riots. No wonder Rajdeep has to bring Asish Nandy in to the context to counter the intolerance tweet of Narendra Modi. Hope Rajdeep has read what Asish Nandy scribed in his article back then. The language used therein were anything but highly condemnable, more so when it is written against a state machinery. Though it may not be termed as an act of sedition but for sure it falls there or there about. Admitted, the state of Gujarat overreacted on the issue but then, which government doesn’t do the same to protect its own interest. I never found Rajdeep talk, even once, for the arrests that were happening left-right-and-center for posting something about Sonia Gandhi on Facebook. Why Asish Nandy alone? What about the cartoonist of AAP? What even about the carpet blocking of all those sites (including mine) that were critical of UPA misrule? Could Rajdeep clarify the language of Shabnam Hashmi, who appears every second day in his channel, in this article of her about Asish Nandy sedition episode?
“The latest instance of the brazen and audacious misuse of public office by the Modi regime is a grim reminder of the dangers of allowing a fascist party to exist in a democratic set up. Recent victories of the BJP in Karnataka and elsewhere seem to legitimize the kind of politics Narendra Modi has been practicing in Gujarat which is being dubbed as a model state”
Nikhil Waghle, the one who got the treatment from Shiv Sainiks in the aforementioned incidence has his piece of sound bites for us. He urges us to wait till he exposes the real association of Aditi restaurant’s owner. I feel pity for the people who allowed such a klutz to become the chief editor of IBN-Lokmat. Even if the owner is concomitant with Shiv Sena, BJP or for that matter even RSS, can that take away the hooliganism of Youth Congress goons, is something I am struggling to understand. Or is this top lair empty jack suggesting all, that one can’t really speak the truth if he/she is associated with BJP or any of its allies? Who gives such kind of fools the job that demands high-end responsibilities? And look at the audacity in proclaiming to spin a different angle to the whole hooliganism of Youth Congress. Hope Rajdeep must have got the answer to the lack of public outrage when Shiv Sainiks made a Sreesanth out of this man and his office as well. Going by the mental level, I am anything but sure this Nikhik Wagle in fact got far less than what he deserves.
On a lighter note, the reaction of one of my friend when I told him about Aditi Reastaurant was nothing but extraordinary – “Tche!! All this for a mere bill? I thought they named a Pizza or a Tequila after Sonia Gandhi”. Happy billing…
