I am angry. I am angry because what has happened on LOC yesterday is yet another act of barbarism that is not expected of civilized people. I am angry because something as barbaric as decapitating a soldier could have been avoided, had we as a nation been little serious about the facts on the ground and called the spade a spade, long time back.
If you were too busy listening to daily rambles of clowns on how and which way women should behave and can’t just fathom the reason behind my outrage then let me furnish the background to my annoyance. In the early hours yesterday, on the LOC our patrol team engaged miscreants from the other side to foil a possible infiltration attempt. Gunshots were exchanged and unfortunately two of our soldiers were captured by the Pakistani army. Few hours later we were shocked to receive the heavily mutilated bodies of Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh with one of them even decapitated. It is gruesome, barbaric, unethical and clearly against the ethics of war behavior. No sane nation would ever think of treating the soldiers of its enemy with such brutality and barbarism. Soldiers fight hard for their country and pride but there still remains a mutual respect for each other as warriors of their respective countries. But to torture and badly mutilate an enemy soldier and then shameless enough to send it back is something that certainly doesn’t amount to mutual respect. Few hawks in our external affairs ministry may think otherwise but for me it is a serious, serious violation of code of conduct which is not acceptable in this civilized world.
Honestly, I am not angry on Pakistanis. A failed state roaming around the world with a begging bowl can’t be expected of delivering ethical actions. A country which is a democracy for the namesake while terrorists and cocooned mentality Neanderthal humans ruling the roost is not expected to display maturity and sensibility on matters involving humanity. A country which can barely afford a week’s electricity supply without the begged money from the west can’t behave as a responsible nation adhering to all international diplomatic protocols. A country which has terrorism as its state policy can’t be exemplary when it comes to principles and conscience.
But what we are doing to safeguard our interest? What angers me in all of this is our own indifference towards our own people. What angers me is the manner in which GOI is dealing with a rogue nation like Pakistan with kid’s gloves. What angers me is our affinity to play ostrich at the drop of a hat and deliberately avoiding making eye contacts with the writing on the walls.
This is not the first time that Pakistan made some serious ceasefire violation. For records, in last decade alone we have lost more than 80 soldiers because of a nation which just doesn’t understand the importance of peace in the region. Time and again, their army fully sedated by a notorious rogue organization called ISI tries to help the terrorist cross the border. Under the pretext of heavy shelling they expect the buggers to cross over since our patrolling troop would be engaged with them in retaliation. Not that we haven’t raised our concerns at the highest diplomatic channels but has it yielded anything? It hasn’t because we are never serious with our actions every time one such incident happens. Most of the time we tend to get aggressive to save our face and lodge our strongest complain and forget the incident quicker than we agitated for it. Kargil martyr Capt. Saurav Kalia is one such example. A brave heart of our nation was badly tortured with eyes gorged out, limbs chopped off and we are yet to get an apology from Pakistan on the inhuman treatment meted out to one of our soldiers.
Why would even Pakistan apologize for our own incompetence and hypocrisy is another question. When the father of the martyr is running from pillar-to-post and knocking every door of our judiciary to give justice to his departed son, our irresponsible government invites absolute morons like Rehman Mallik to add insult to our injuries. The clown not only got a royal treatment on our land but also had the audacity to joke around the death of Saurav Kalia. Little did we know till date that, it is not the Pakistani soldiers that tortured Capt. Kalia but the demanding weather persistent in that part. The guttermouth didn’t stopped there but accused us instead for blowing a normal death out of proportion. Well the mutilation marks on his body could be because of the wild animals. Have you ever heard of any statesman delivering such insinuating statements on sensitive matters on a foreign land? Even if someone does, will he be allowed to go scot-free without answering few tough questions like the way we allowed Rehman Mallik to fly back? Rather being dejected with such nonchalance of the foreign minister, our priminister was seen all laughing and cajoling the rascal the next day. What would you call this? An insensitive priminister or plain and simple indifference of the state?
I have mentioned this earlier and mentioning it again. The supreme reason that I see as culprit for the situation that we are in is Nobel peace prize. For decades, our leaders in pursuit of it have screwed the nation the bad way. Starting with a clueless man like Nehru to our present day mute button, it is this award that is paramount for our state heads than governance and concerns for the citizens. What else would one say when our so called leaders walk that extra mile to ensure some pseudo peace with a scalabag nation like Pakistan? What else would one say when we are backstabbed every time we talk of peace but still we tout around and go on a hugging and kissing spree, as we did in Thimpu? From Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Manmohan Singh, it is cheaters and absolute liars that greeted us from the other side but we still run around like headless chickens with a hope of peace from people who just don’t have this word in their dictionary.
Look at what we have achieved after 26/11. Absolutely nothing. We might have hung a pawn but the whales are still enjoying a state sponsored luxury there. We have not able to get Hafeez Saeed even slapped for once for his actions. All that we have achieved is further shame on ourselves when we go around begging Pakistan to bring all those perpetrators to justice. How school boyish we can be is clear from the fact that, as part of our retaliation for such heinous crime, the best we could do is to serve any cricketing ties with Pakistan. Brilliant one must say knowing very well that the least a reprobate nation like Pakistan care is a game of cricket with us. Even though the reasons behind any such decision are reprehensible to begin with, resuming cricketing ties now after a gap of four years is even more flabbergasting. What we have achieved in these four years that we thought of playing with them again is beyond me.
Not only cricket alone but our immigration officials and nutcases in our external affairs ministry seem to lack something called brain. When we are getting our brave sons killed and mutilated we cordially invite rascals like Javed Miandad to come and watch cricket here. He being the direct relative of India’s most wanted man Dawood Ebrahim doesn’t bother us much. Does it? And boy, didn’t we hear the guttermouths of Congress condoning any such shameful step of our MEA with absolute absurd reasoning? I am sick of the line ‘sports and politics shouldn’t be mixed’. So obnoxious the line is that it has blurred our sense of mature thinking much like the way the line ‘terrorists have no religion’ has done to the psyche of a lot of people. If at all I believe these scoundrels and agree to admit that sports shouldn’t be mixed with anything, let alone politics then also my question still remains unanswered since the same scoundrels are the ones who actually jumped out of their Dhotis and banned cricketing relationship with Pakistan after 26/11. It is not you, me or Ramu Kaka who pleaded for the ties to discontinue.
Our venomous media is also responsible for this mess. Read this tweet of Barkha Dutt. What you see? Well for me, I see at least a gallon of crocodile tear shed by the diva in this tweet alone. How one can be so much hypocritical? The same lady who runs around Pakistan and takes interviews of the nemesis of Kargil war called Parvez Musarruf once in every fortnight is talking about martyrs and soldiers unnecessarily getting killed? The same channel which adores people like Musarruf with the highest respect and calls them to attend their functions, award ceremonies, personal occasions like marriage in the family, now have this moron who suddenly becomes so concerned for the brutal death of two soldiers? Saurav Kalia would be turning in his grave looking at jokers like Barkha vouching for justice.
Look at another genius. The preacher of peace and the man who once referred Dawood as a patriot. What you see in this tweet? Well I see Gautama Buddha turning in his grave ever so violently in seeing his first true disciple. Don’t we have enough preaching for peace already that we have to listen to this man who doesn’t have a moral of his own for anything, let alone preaching the nation? And didn’t he suggest all of us to be strong? Rather than beating around the bush I wish he was strong himself and had the courage to call people in MEA, including the boss presently on a French voyage as a set of utter disgrace to the nation. Rather than preaching us bullshit he should have highlighted the incompetence of our MEA.
Even Rajesh Kalra, whom I respect a lot for being an honest jurno also found it judicious to do a Manmohan Singh on a very uncomfortable question of mine. While Rajesh generally replies to everything that I ask, here he decided to bring an exception to that habit. Rajesh can duck the question but for me and I am sure for million others, this Aman Ki Asha nonsense is something which we must stop immediately. Guys at the other end are just not worth of our patience, love, respect, and cooperation or for that matter our hate even. Beggars with no value system doesn’t deserve to be our friends and we also would love to not have such rabid scumbags loitering our country, earning their livelihood here and then going back to plot heinous executions on our people. Lest we forget the sacrifices of Capt. Saurav Kalia and thousand others. Aman Ki Asha? Seriously?
